Two more Quanics Lab students successfully defended their MSc research thesis.
Congratulations to Brhyeton Hall and Hollis Hoang on completing their MSc Degrees in Physics. Brhyeton's research focused on quantum error correction and Hollis studied modeling of spin qubits in silicon.

Two more Quanics Lab students successfully defended their MSc research thesis.
Congratulations to Canaan Yung and Scott Vila on completing their MSc Degrees in Computer Science. Canaan's research focused on quantum algorithms for data science and Scott explored quantum error correction methods for correlated and biased noise.

Dr Usman will be giving a Guest Lecture at the Australian Institute of Machine Learning (The University of Adelaide) on August 12 at 11 AM. The topic of the lecture is "Applications at the intersection of machine learning and quantum computing".

Dr Usman joined Working Group 14 Committee at the Standards Australia to help define standards for quantum technologies. In this role, Dr Usman will also be closely working with the international communities at ISO, IEC, etc to represent Australia in standardisation of quantum technologies.

Dr Usman's MSc student (co-supervised with Prof. Hollenberg) successfully presented completion talk of his MSc thesis. He worked on the investigation of electronic signature of symmetry breaking in MgPc dimers adsorbed on Ag surfaces by formulating a theoretical framework based on DFT electronic structure calculations and STM/STS simulations.
